International Conference on Reparations in Sri Lanka

Last week Dr Luke Moffett contributed to the International Organisation for Migration’s International Conference on Reparations in Colombo, Sri Lanka. The conference drew together local civil society, reparation experts and members of the Sri Lanka government to discuss the implementation of reparations in Sri Lanka.

Dr Moffett’s contribution focused on the conceptual and practical challenges of implementing reparations in societies transitioning from conflict. Sri Lanka is currently drafting a reparations bill to create a reparations office as per its agreement with the UN Human Rights Council in 2015.
